R-Truth shockingly showed up on WWE television at Money in the Bank 2025. The legend made his return in the show's final moments and destroyed John Cena. Truth's attack cost The Franchise Player and Logan Paul a potential win in a tag team match against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso.
The American Nightmare pinned the 17-time world champion with the help of Truth. WWE fans in Los Angeles were excited to see the legend back after he removed his disguise. One of the burning questions after Truth's comeback is whether his release was a work.
For those unaware, R-Truth announced last week that he was leaving WWE as his contract was set to expire soon. He even thanked fans and the company for all the memories. Hence, his appearance at Money in the Bank confused viewers, with many questioning whether his release was part of a storyline. As per wrestling insider Cory Hays, the answer is no, Truth's departure wasn't a work.
It's important to note that, besides Truth, Carlito was also released from the company last week. The former Judgment Day member also took his official X account to disclose that his contract was not being renewed. The Caribbean Bad Apple is expected to be active on the independent circuit as he is presently the WWC Puerto Rico Champion.
All this pretty much confirms that R-Truth's release from the Stamford-based promotion was not a work. Triple H and Co. might have changed their plans and decided to bring back the legend.
Soon after R-Truth's comeback, the sports entertainment juggernaut announced that his merchandise was back on the WWE Shop. One of the massive changes was that the merch was not listed under the veteran's name. Instead, the company used the real name of Truth, i.e., Ron Killings.
As of now, there is no confirmation regarding the name change. It remains to be seen how the storyline will progress after the arrival of the former WWE champion.
