Former WWE head writer Vince Russo discussed the possibility of Vince McMahon returning to the wrestling business. The 79-year-old wrestling veteran helped make WWE a global juggernaut.
Mr. McMahon moved away from the limelight after a huge lawsuit against him by ex-WWE employee Janel Grant, accusing the former CEO of sexual harassment and trafficking. Of late, McMahon has made some public appearances, including showing up at the Super Bowl earlier this year. These appearances come amid rumors that Vince may want to return to the business.
This week on BroDown with Mac Davis, Russo explained that the current lawsuit and Vince's age were the two main factors. He noted that both the lawsuit's outcome and McMahon's health were unpredictable factors stalling the comeback. However, the veteran writer was sure that Vince McMahon would try to return in some form or another.
"This is the tough part. I would say a hundred percent, except there are two things that are kind of outside his control. Number one is the lawsuit. I mean, obviously, he can't do anything in this until this thing is over. That's number one. And number two, let's face it, the dude's age is against him. The dude is 79 years old. Because of those two things, it's really hard to say. His health, you don't know where that is, you don't know how long this lawsuit will carry on. So I would say, even with those two things, I would say it's 50-50." [From 46:11 onwards]
Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics reported that Vince McMahon recently launched a new company 14TH & I. The new firm will focus on opportunities in entertainment, sports, and media.
It will be interesting to see if this new firm takes a shot at professional wrestling as well.
