Jey Uso to be removed from Money in the Bank due to WWE legend attacking him on SmackDown? Exploring the possibility

WWE Money in the Bank 2025 emanates from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, CA, this Saturday, while the go-home edition of SmackDown emanates from the Dignity Health Arena in Bakersfield, California, tonight. Among the multiple superstars who have a busy next few days, one of them is World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso.

Uso is set to be in attendance on SmackDown tonight alongside his partner at Money in the Bank, Cody Rhodes, and their opponents, John Cena and Logan Paul. The YEET Master is then also scheduled to defend his title against former champion Gunther on next week's RAW.

An incredible run surrounded by every single top star in the company—from CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes, Gunther, Logan Paul, Paul Heyman, John Cena, and many others—while juggling between friends, enemies, and World Championship responsibilities, all in the first few weeks of his title reign, has raised questions about when it all will get too much for Jey to handle. Could this heroism lead to his ultimate downfall?

From the possibility of Gunther regaining the championship against a weakened Jey Uso to a potential cash-in on RAW next week, perhaps by Seth Rollins, speculation is rampant about how it might all come crumbling down for the 39-year-old. But what if the nightmare begins as soon as tonight? With multiple RAW Superstars set to be in Bakersfield tonight, if Gunther makes a surprise appearance to do something more than warn the champion, Uso could be left less than 100% before his tag team match at MITB, let alone his title defense against the WWE legend on RAW.

Worse yet, what if Gunther forms a temporary alliance with John Cena and Logan Paul and completely takes Jey out of MITB? This would not just leave Cody Rhodes alone and in need of a partner but also leave Uso physically and psychologically weakened ahead of his match against the Austrian. That said, the angle is speculative at this point.

Former WWE Champion to replace Jey Uso at Money in the Bank if Gunther takes him out on SmackDown?

If the above-mentioned scenario becomes a reality, a weakened Jey Uso on WWE RAW could open the gate for Gunther to become World Heavyweight Champion, or perhaps someone like Seth Rollins or LA Knight to cash in the MITB contract on either The YEET Master or The Ring General on RAW.

As for Cody Rhodes, he could perhaps seek the aid of an old friend of his and someone who needs to settle some receipts with Logan Paul and John Cena. This certain someone is former WWE Champion CM Punk, who has been left off the MITB card due to the events of RAW this week. The 46-year-old failed to win the Men's MITB Triple Threat Qualifier against AJ Styles and El Grande Americano due to interference from Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.

The Second City Saint had a legendary rivalry with John Cena in the early 2010s, and he was eliminated from the 2025 Men's Royal Rumble Match by Logan Paul. Hence, it will make complete sense for him to be Cody's partner should Jey get ruled out.

However, this is also speculative at this point. Only time will tell what WWE has in store for fans this weekend.
