Anthony Edwards took over Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors. Edwards went off in the third quarter to help the Timberwolves create a lot of separation, prompting a reaction from Memphis Grizzlies star, Ja Morant.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Morant shared an emoji amid Edwards' incredible shooting clinic on Monday night at the Chase Center. "Ant-Man" scored 16 points in the quarter to turn a two-point halftime deficit into an 18-point lead with less than four minutes remaining in the third.
Ja Morant had an early offseason after the Memphis Grizzlies were swept by the OKC Thunder in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs. Morant suffered a bad injury in Game 3, which was later diagnosed as a hip contusion. He missed Game 4 as the Grizzlies were no match against the No. 1 seed Thunder.
The Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors exchange baskets and lead for the majority of the first half. The Timberwolves appeared ready to take control early in the second quarter before the Warriors suddenly went on a huge run.
With the Timberwolves down by five points with less than 10 seconds before halftime, Anthony Edwards was met by a couple of defenders at the top of the key near the logo. Edwards did an impressive dribble move that got Gary Payton II off balance.
"Ant-Man" then took a pull-up rainbow shot at the buzzer to cut the Warriors' lead to just 60-58 at halftime. It gave Edwards the confidence heading into the second half, taking over in the third quarter, along with Julius Randle.
After a stint with Team USA in the Olympics, many people expected Anthony Edwards to make the leap heading into the 2024-25 NBA season. Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves had an underwhelming start to the campaign and were scrambling to create team chemistry.
It took some time, but Edwards found his rhythm and showed that he's more than a slasher. He led the league in 3-pointers made with a career-high 320 makes, beating out Malik Beasley of the Detroit Pistons and Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors.
Edwards has turned into the best shooting guard in the NBA and has the Timberwolves on the brink of another Western Conference Finals appearance.
