Huge change could be made to R-Truth's career following WWE return - Reports

R-Truth could be making a huge change to his career following his shocking WWE return at Money in the Bank 2025. All of this comes in the fallout of it essentially being confirmed that the previous contract situation was not a work.

If the fact that Carlito and Valhalla (Sarah Logan) were told their contracts weren't being renewed wasn't enough to believe it, then Fightful Select confirmed without a shadow of a doubt that the Truth situation was, in fact, real. They went into great detail in their latest updates, confirming the report that Nick Khan had to get involved and call R-Truth himself. It was only when Khan called that things began to move, and it's very rare for the WWE President to get directly involved in these types of deals. The report from Fightful stated that even Truth's own family members and peers in WWE confirmed it wasn't a work.

While the deal was reportedly put together late last week, there weren't many details about the decision for him to go by his real name, Ron Killings. However, it was noted that because R-Truth had indicated a desire to have a serious in-ring run before the end of his career, there could be a chance that he would have a major change in character. However, Fightful wasn't given any "guarantees" about the booking he could receive.

R-Truth has previously expressed a bit of regret over how his WWE career panned out

It's incredible to think that Truth could possibly have any regret over his 17-year tenure in WWE, especially when he became such a beloved name and a key figure in the locker room. However, even he couldn't deny the reality of how he felt.

Last year on TikTok live, Ron Killings admitted that he was mad at himself, hinting at there being some unfulfilled potential in his career. This is because he ended up being a comedy star instead of a more serious figure:

“I guess… I’m mad at myself… when I think about where I am and where I wanted to be in my career.”

Perhaps it's normal for somebody in Truth's position to wonder what could have been when looking at an alternative path for their careers. It's no secret that the more "serious" superstar is bound to become a main eventer. R-Truth dipped his toes into this very briefly mid-2011, challenging John Cena for the WWE Championship.

It happened as he headlined the now-infamous pay-per-view, Capitol Punishment. With that being said, the connection he has with fans is evidently far more than just that of a comedy character. Apart from making great money for so many years, he put a smile on the faces of millions across the world and proved to be a great force in the locker room. No true monetary value can be attached to that.
