Vince McMahon recently launched a private investment firm called 14TH & I. The former WWE Chairman's son Shane clarified to TMZ that his father's latest venture will not lead to the creation of a new wrestling promotion. However, WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL) thinks his former boss will find it difficult to stay away.

In January 2024, ex-WWE employee Janel Grant accused Vince McMahon of sexual assault and trafficking. The 79-year-old denied the allegations before resigning as a board member of WWE's parent company TKO "out of respect" for the organization.

JBL said on the Something to Wrestle podcast that he expects Vince McMahon to return to the wrestling business in some capacity:

"I just don't know how he can keep himself from it. He's gonna invest. He's got all the money in the world. He never has to work again a day in his life. He didn't have to work for years, and he loves to work. I've told you the story many times, 'I don't know how you stay out there on that golf course for four hours. My God, that's hell.' He couldn't understand being four hours away from work because all he wants to do is work." [31:26 – 31:48]

McMahon oversaw WWE's creative direction for four decades before initially stepping down in 2022. He returned in 2023 to oversee the sale of the company to Endeavor.

JBL on Vince McMahon's motive for returning to wrestling

John Bradshaw Layfield wrestled for WWE between 1995 and 2009. During that time, he formed a good relationship with Vince McMahon and worked closely with the 79-year-old on the Tribute to the Troops concept.

While McMahon's 14TH & I company focuses on sports, media, and entertainment, JBL thinks wrestling is still his long-time friend's passion:

"He loves wrestling. I understand he's gonna make these investments. He's gonna be an entertainment company. He doesn't wanna deal with Hollywood stars. He wants to deal with wrestlers, in my opinion, and I can see somehow the next 10 years, I hope he lives a long time, because I think it's gonna be very interesting having him around, plus I like him, what he does. I can see him doing something with a wrestling company somewhere just to show he can still do it." [31:52 – 32:18]

In the same episode, JBL addressed his absence from AAA and WWE's Worlds Collide event.
