A former WWE Superstar has shared his thoughts on WWE letting go of R-Truth after 17 years. Baron Corbin mentioned that Vince McMahon actually cared about his talent and the fans.
The multi-time 24/7 Champion shockingly announced his departure on social media recently. He recently came off a feud with John Cena, whom he often referred to as his childhood hero. The two stars collided at Saturday Night's Main Event, with the 17-time world champion getting the victory. Truth's last match was against JC Mateo on the May 30 episode of SmackDown.
During a recent appearance on Busted Open, Bishop Dyer (formerly Baron Corbin) discussed loyalty in wrestling and stated that Vince McMahon genuinely cared about his talent, but that R-Truth was let go despite being loyal.
"Say what you want about Vince, Vince [McMahon] cared about his talent and he cared about the fans. Everything else in his life is his business and whatever he's dealing with. Guys like Taker, someone who's been loyal. When you watch Vince talk about Taker, he starts crying because he loves him and his loyalty. R-Truth has been nothing but loyal, he's done everything that's ever been asked. He's gotten everything to work, even some shit that's really questionable over the years, he's made very entertaining. I think if you're sitting in that locker room, you have to realize, 'Oh shit, if I'm not on TV for a month, it could be me next,'" said Corbin. (H/T WrestleTalk)
Speaking on the Road Trip After Hours podcast, Teddy Long stated that he spoke to R-Truth and that the latter had made peace with his WWE departure.
"I talked to Truth, and he’s happy with it. I saw his statement that he made after the release. So you know, it’s like this with me. If Truth is happy, I love it. So ain’t no going back and forth about this release, because talking back and forth or making an argument out of it that don’t get that ain’t bringing them back… everybody, if you got any, any sense at all, you know, you can see what is going on.” (H/T WrestlingNews)
It'll be interesting to see what R-Truth does next. There's no doubt that the fans will support him wherever he goes.
