CM Punk dropped a major tease ahead of tonight's episode of WWE RAW. This week's edition of RAW is the first show following Money in the Bank and will air live from Phoenix, Arizona.
It was reported earlier today that WWE could be starting a rivalry between John Cena and Punk tonight on the red brand. The Second City Saint seemingly teased the rivalry ahead of tonight's show by sharing a throwback photo of himself with Cena on his Instagram story. You can check out Punk's message in the image below.
Cena teamed up with Logan Paul to battle Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes in a tag team match over the weekend at Money in the Bank. R-Truth returned to the company during the match and attacked The Cenation Leader by hitting him with a Spear in the middle of the ring.
The American Nightmare then planted the 48-year-old with a Cross Rhodes to pick up the pinfall victory. Cena captured the Undisputed WWE Championship from Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 41 earlier this year.
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently took the company to task for how CM Punk is being used on television.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's BroDown show, Russo complained about how the former AEW World Champion was being utilized by the company. He noted that the promotion had been repetitive with its booking and claimed that the product was not entertaining.
"The show should have been built around the four guys [Cena, Paul, Rhodes, and Jey] who were in the ring at the end. They've done the same thing for the last two weeks on RAW. CM Punk is in the building, and you're seeing him in the last two minutes of the show. The entire show stinks and Punk is coming out for the last two minutes," Russo said. [From 42:35 onwards]
