Goldberg made a huge return to WWE RAW to confront a major name, picking up exactly where he left off. He confirmed the date of what is seemingly going to be his retirement match.
It's no secret that the WWE Hall of Famer and former Universal Champion doesn't have much left to offer in the ring anymore. He revealed a few years ago that he had a handshake deal with Vince McMahon over a retirement match, but after the new regime change, he wasn't contacted. However, all of those details were worked out, and he then revealed that they agreed to a retirement match.
That will likely be against Gunther, the newly-crowned two-time World Heavyweight Champion. The legend confronted the Austrian star during his title celebration and reminded him of what happened at Bad Blood 2024. He then challenged Gunther to a match on July 12 in Atlanta in what will be the headliner of Saturday Night's Main Event.
The match between Goldberg and Gunther was made official minutes after, and the World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line. If so, three of the four previous editions of SNME have been headlined by World Heavyweight Title matches.
This will be the fourth in a five-show deal that WWE has with NBC to bring SNME back into the fold.
It should be made clear that Goldberg didn't explicitly mention that this would be his last-ever match, but many fans are expecting him to hang up his boots after he battles The Ring General.
