Matt Hardy competed in four Money in the Bank ladder matches during his WWE career. Ahead of the 2025 event on June 7, the legendary wrestler explained why he thinks El Grande Americano will capture the men's briefcase.
El Grande Americano defeated AJ Styles and CM Punk on the June 2 episode of RAW to qualify for the six-man ladder match. Although Chad Gable portrays the masked character, the 39-year-old is adamant he and El Grande Americano are not the same person.
Hardy said on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy that he thinks Gable's luchador persona will record a huge victory:
"I feel like Chad Gable, El Grande Americano, I feel like he is the guy that's gonna win this, and you're gonna see these two characters kind of merge into one, I feel like." [19:04 – 19:19]
Andrade, LA Knight, Penta, Seth Rollins, and Solo Sikoa will also participate in the Men's Money in the Bank ladder match.
During his Triple Threat victory on RAW, El Grande Americano wore wrestling boots containing the initials CG. Posting in-character, Chad Gable claimed on X that Americano borrowed his footwear after an airline lost his luggage.
Matt Hardy thinks the storyline could lead to Gable finally admitting he is the person behind the El Grande Americano gimmick:
"I feel like the way they've been playing up this angle, [Gable] just recently came out and said he let El [Grande] Americano borrow his boots, and he had the CG Chad Gable boots on, and it's been a great bit they've had running on TV for a while. I feel like we're getting to that point where they're gonna end up merging these things together." [19:19 – 19:33]
Gable will compete in two high-profile matches on June 7. Before Money in the Bank, he will challenge El Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship at Worlds Collide.
