WWE SummerSlam will air live this August from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The PLE will be two nights this year, and the WWE Draft is rumored to be taking place shortly after.
There are several tag teams and factions in the company that are not on the same page at the moment. The promotion may decide to make some changes in the coming weeks to give multiple stars a fresh start.
Listed below are four teams expected to split up ahead of SummerSlam.
Alpha Academy is a faction comprised of Otis, Akira Tozawa, and Maxxine Dupri on RAW. Chad Gable used to be the leader of the group, but he left them behind to form American Made alongside The Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile.
Maxxine Dupri and Natalya are reportedly set to become a tag team known as The Dungeon Dolls. This could lead to Akira Tozawa and Otis going in another direction and resulting in the end of Alpha Academy on the red brand.
A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory and Grayson Waller) appeared to have an incredibly bright future after capturing the WWE Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania XL. However, that was their shining moment, and the duo has been struggling to remain relevant for a while now.
WWE may finally break the former champions up ahead of SummerSlam to provide Waller and Theory a fresh start. The promotion has been teasing their split for far too long, and it is only a matter of time before they are finally separated.
Kairi Sane and Asuka are a popular tag team known as The Kabuki Warriors, and the duo are former Women's Tag Team Champions. Asuka has not competed in a match since Backlash 2024 but is set to return to action tonight on WWE RAW.
The Empress of Tomorrow will be facing Raquel Rodriguez, Ivy Nile, and Stephanie Vaquer in a Fatal 4-Way Queen of the Ring match. Kairi Sane will also be in action tonight in a singles match against Liv Morgan. The promotion may have plans for Asuka and Kairi Sane as singles stars, and the former champions could amicably agree to split up in the weeks ahead.
The Judgment Day has seemingly been on the verge of breaking up for a long time now. The faction betrayed Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest last year at SummerSlam, and a similar situation could happen in the weeks ahead.
Finn Balor and Dominik Mysterio have had issues with each other for months, and it was only made worse by Dirty Dom pinning the veteran at WrestleMania 41 to become the new Intercontinental Champion. Balor also recently introduced Roxanne Perez to The Judgment Day, potentially as a way to cause issues with Dominik Mysterio's storyline relationship with Liv Morgan.
The former champion seems to believe that the faction is much better off with him as the leader but has been unable to back up his words in the ring. The rest of the faction may eventually decide to betray the 43-year-old, possibly leading to another babyface run for Balor.
