Season 3 of the sci-fi show Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is set to be released on Paramount+ on July 17, 2025. With Captain Christopher Pike at the helm, the crew of the Enterprise faces escalating perilous stakes, ventures into untapped regions, and discovers new life and civilizations.
The crew goes on individual quests that keep them pushing their limits and redefining their fates. Reception has been good for this prequel series set in a timeline before the events of Star Trek: The Original Series (1966–1969).
Notably, the series is not canceled. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has been renewed for a fourth season, which is now in production. The show's producers have also confirmed the fifth and final season. There have been no premiere dates revealed for both seasons as of yet, but fans can expect the show to run on till 2027 or 2028, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
As mentioned previously, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has been renewed for a fourth and fifth season. Season 5 will comprise only six episodes compared to its 10-episode predecessors. According to an article published by The Hollywood Reporter dated June 12, 2025, the show's executive producers, Akiva Goldsman, Henry Alonso Myers, and Alex Kurtzman, opened up about their vision for the Star Trek series.
“From the very beginning, Strange New Worlds set out to honor what Star Trek has always stood for — boundless curiosity, hope and the belief that a better future is possible,” their joint statement read.
The producers also thanked the show's fans for their support and confirmed that the story of the Enterprise is far from over.
“We’re deeply grateful to Paramount+ for the chance to complete our five-season mission, just as we envisioned it, alongside our extraordinary cast and crew. And to the passionate fans who’ve boldly joined us on this journey — THANK YOU. With three more spectacular seasons ahead for you to see and enjoy, this adventure is far from over,” they said.
Paramount+ is reportedly working on another spin-off series, Star Trek: Starfleet, which will follow a new set of Starfleet cadets who are training to become officers, as per The Hollywood Reporter. In another interview with the LA Times, published on May 30, 2024, showrunner Alex Kurtzman opened up about his feelings about the upcoming series.
"It’s an incredibly optimistic show, an incredibly fun show; it’s a very funny show, and it’s a very emotional show. I think these kids, in different ways, are going to represent what a lot of kids are feeling now," he stated.

Captain Pike and the crew of the USS Enterprise pick up immediately after the Gorn cliffhanger from season 2, contending with its fallout and deeper consequences. The season introduces genre-bending episodes with the crew exploring new worlds and defending against invasions.
The core bridge crew returns with Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Lt. Commander Una Chin-Riley, Ethan Peck as Lt. Spock, and Melissa Navia as Lt. Erica Ortegas. They are joined by guest stars Paul Wesley, Rhys Darby, Patton Oswalt, Cillian O’Sullivan, Carol Kane, and more.
