Saudi Pro League team Al-Hilal are reportedly interested in luring Darwin Nunez away from Liverpool before the start of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup on June 14.

Nunez, 25, has struggled to live up to his price tag since joining the Reds from Benfica in a potential £85 million deal in 2022. He has seen himself fall down in his side's pecking order under Arne Slot this season.

So far this campaign, the 35-cap Uruguay international has scored only seven goals in 44 appearances in all competitions. He has also laid out seven assists in 1,959 minutes of action for Liverpool this season.

Now, according to reliable journalist Ian Doyle, Nunez could depart Slot's outfit this June as Al-Hilal are keen to have the striker in their Club World Cup squad. Al-Hilal are prepared to lodge a transfer bid for the attacker as soon as the summer transfer window opens on June 1.

The Uruguayan star has helped the Merseyside outfit win two trophies.

Arne Slot remains tight-lipped about Liverpool star's next destination

At a recent press conference, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot opened up on Trent Alexander-Arnold's upcoming departure at the end of the term. He said (h/t Tribal Football):

"I think like everyone who likes the club and is a fan of us, we're disappointed because a good human is leaving but also a very good full-back as well. I also worked at clubs like AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord when good players left, so I am a bit more used to it. The experience I have and this club as well, if a good player leaves, the next good player steps up and that is what will go again."

Asked to shed light on Alexander-Arnold's next destination, he replied:

"Do I know where he is going? He hasn't said anything, just that he will leave, so it is impossible to comment if he will play in the Club World Cup. You see by my smile, we both know where he is going to! Team selection will be the same as last week, same process. If Conor [Bradley] was available he would have started against Chelsea, so there's a first chance he might start next."

Alexander-Arnold, 26, is reportedly close to joining Real Madrid following his Reds exit. He has made 42 appearances across competitions for the Reds this season, registering four goals and eight assists along the way.

Liverpool are next set to take on Arsenal at Anfield this Sunday (May 11).
