The Netherlands U21 will face Denmark U21 at the Stadion Tatran on Sunday in the second group-stage game of their 2025 U21 European Championship campaign. Jong Oranje had to settle for a point in their group opener on Thursday and will be keen to pick up maximum points this time around to boost their chances of advancing to the knockout stages.
They were held to a 2-2 draw by a significantly weaker Finland U21 side in their opening game, finding themselves two goals down at the break following errors in the build-up before Luciano Valente and AZ Alkmaar forward Ernest Poku came off the bench in the second half to rescue a point for Michael Reiziger's team.
Denmark U21, meanwhile, came out on top in an end-to-end clash against Ukraine U21 on the opening day, winning the game 3-2 after falling behind twice. They had looked set to be headed toward defeat after conceding the second goal in the 78th minute before a quickfire double from substitutes Clement Bischoff and William Osula secured maximum points for the Danish youngsters.
De Rød-Hvide sit atop Group D with three points and will confirm a spot in the quarterfinals with maximum points on Sunday.
The Netherlands are undefeated in their last 11 games across all competitions, a run dating back to last March. They have perhaps the more established squad on paper heading into the weekend clash and will fancy their chances of a favorable result.
Denmark, meanwhile, saw their latest result end a four-game winless streak. They, however, showed their defensive frailties against Ukraine and could lose this one.
Prediction: Netherlands U21 2-1 Denmark U21
Tip 1 - Result: Netherlands U21 to win
