Kawhi Leonard's 20-point double-double with 11 assists was in vain as the Denver Nuggets put on a solid performance to win 131-115 and take a 3-2 lead in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs on Wednesday.
The forward was off to a quiet start as he ended halftime with six points, three rebounds, and five assists in over 15 minutes of action as the team trailed the Nuggets 52-41 with three minutes to go in the first half of the game. Leonard's facilitating was a hallmark in the first half as the Clippers looked to put pressure on the hosts early on.
'The Klaw' has been a force for the Clippers in the playoffs averaging 26.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists in the four games so far.
Kawhi Leonard's explosive playoff run saw the LA Clippers stay in the contest despite a tough start. While Game 5 didn't swing their way, they are still in the contest with a chance to force Game 7 if they win the next matchup.
Earlier, Leonard spoke about the hunger to perform despite his lengthy injury break that kept him from full-tilt playoff action.
“I love the game and I have a passion for it still. I love to compete out there, so that’s pretty much what drives me back. Everything has its ups and downs and you got to go through those in life. You just keep going.”
Both teams meet Thursday for a decisive Game 6.
